Radial Plate Cheap and Easy
While there may be a lot of discussion and disagreement on how many radials, whether to bury them or keep them above ground, etc., one thing is in total agreement: Your vertical will work better with resonant radials, period. Radials are the "other half" of your "dipole" when putting together a vertical.

A radial plate, usually made of copper or stainless steel, can be expensive because of the machining that goes into it. Here's something from Home Depot that cost less than a quarter pounder at McDonald's and will work just as well as an expensive radial plate from DX Engineering. It's stainless steel, so it won't rot in the ground. It's pre-drilled for 10-24 bolts, which should also be stainless steel. Simply pull out the rubber stopper/centerpiece and slip it over your ground rod, then ground it with braided cable.
